La Porte County Public Library
About
The mission of the La Porte County Public Library is to be the center of community life with a focus on reading, lifelong learning, and public involvement. The Library’s plans and initiatives focus on these areas and are based on the needs of the community. The Library wants to have a positive impact and enhance the lives of those that work and live in the community. All seven physical locations, our Mobile Library and Mobile Classroom, and our virtual presence strive to help the people of La Porte with information, resources, and materials while creating a welcoming and accessible environment for all.
The partnerships with the community range from working with schools to local businesses to nonprofit organizations. The library works with schools to help provide curriculum and training to teachers and resources for students to explore STEAM technology. Partnerships are formed with local businesses to understand needs so the library can help provide access to tools and resources needed to learn the necessary skills to fill positions. Many of the non-profit partnerships provide knowledge of needed and available resources to help us better serve and connect community members with what they need. The website also brings information and connections to the community virtually by linking the people of La Porte to things like shelters and food pantries, or information on how to get utilities assistance or assistance with pregnancy through programs such as OB Navigator.
We work to ensure that we provide the highest level of customer service to everyone who encounters our library services. The accolades that we’ve received are a reflection of our commitment to our community. LPCPL is committed to continuing this type of involvement in making a difference in the community.
