Indiana University Northwest School of Business and Economics

The Indiana University Northwest School of Business & Economics offers undergraduate & graduate programs in business. Faculty and students are also engaged in the community to provide assistance through consulting projects for local business and non-profit entities. The Center for Professional Development also provides non-credit training to those interested in further skill development, including the Small Business Academy.

About

The School of Business & Economics provides a premier business education to the citizens of Northwest Indiana through AACSB International accredited undergraduate and graduate programs emphasizing distinctive competencies in teamwork and leadership. One of the primary purposes of the School is to support the economic development of the region through a collaborative process with members of the community.

Experiential learning is a regular part of many of our classes and in many cases, projects require students to engage with members of the community to assist them with specific problems related to their business. In addition, all students participate in the Small Business Institute as part of their program. Projects have included developing marketing strategies, business plans, staffing expansion strategies, financial analyses, and operations

The Center for Professional Development (CPD) provides non-credit training opportunities as well as consulting to members of the community in order to enhance their business or their own employability. It also sponsors the Small Business Academy @IUN, an annual program that helps local entrepreneurs launch or expand their business.

The Center for Economic Education and Research provides economic education as well as supports economic development through consulting and research in Northwest Indiana. The Center also regularly publishes two data series: The Northwest Indiana Coincident Economic Index (monthly) and the Northwest Indiana Imputed Gross Domestic Product (quarterly). The Northwest Indiana Business Confidence (BIZCONF) Index measures degree of confidence that business owners and executives have for the future their businesses
